What is Linkedin and how to use it?


I. Basic information

What is Linkedin?

LinkedIn is a network for professionals. This platform is intended both for individuals seeking employment and for businesses that want to find employees liaise with colleagues or simply show their presence on the Internet. The aim is to exchange ideas or possibilities.


II. Determination of the editorial policy

Before you create a profile, it is important to identify its elements.

1. When creating a profile it is necessary to answer the following questions:

a. Who are you? (to be precise and to attract attention)

b. What competencies do you have? (describe your career, use keywords to describe your experience in detail)

c. What multimedia need to be added to your profile to make it more representative (image, infographic, presentation, keywords)

2. When creating a company page (=a profile of a company registered on the LinkedIn site)

a. A company presentation text

b. Basic data (company website, an account on the Twitter website, You Tube, etc.)

c. What multimedia need to be added to your profile to make it more representative (image, video, infographic, Power Point presentation or keywords)


III. Creating a Linkedin account

  1. Go to: https://www.linkedin.com

  2. Fill in the information (see screenshot)

IV. How to use Linkedin

  1. Go to page: https://ch.linkedin.com

  2. Log in

  3. Fill in a profile

  4. Create a network

a. Find contacts and add them to your network (see screenshot for completion of account creation)

b. Import the address book in Linkedin


V. Achieving marketing goal

  1. Interaction with contacts

  2. Creation of statuses (= publish information on your profile)

  3. Possibility to share information found on the Internet

  4. Possibility to recommend users

  5. Possibility to evaluate a user profile by using the “Approval” feature (see screenshot for completion of account creation)

  6. Possibility to follow the news of companies or influential individuals


VI. Presentation of Linkedin Premium capabilities

Premium account is a paid account that entitles you to receive additional benefits, such as:

  • browsing guests of your profile

  • keywords bringing users to your page

  • a list of the 10 most favourite profiles in your network including the 5 most favourite profiles located above and below your profile

  • displays the your profile among the first when searching

  • InMail tool (allows you to directly contact the employer or an expert company that is not a member of your network) is only available in the Premium version.
